Yoshino Flowering Cherry Tree Treebute
A tribute known worldwide, blooming in a cloud of pale pink and white each spring.
The Yoshino Flowering Cherry is the tree behind Washington, D.C.'s Cherry Blossom Festival, famous for smothering its bare branches in almond-scented, pale pink blossoms that fade to white as they open. Its wide, gracefully arching canopy provides light shade through summer, then turns golden-yellow in fall, giving your tribute beauty in every season.
Each Treebute is a complete memorial tree kit designed to be planted at home, a hands-on ritual that many people find grounding and healing.
The act of planting gives your hands something purposeful to do and creates meaning, forming a living connection that continues to grow.

Why You'll Love the Yoshino Flowering Cherry Tree
- A world-famous spring display: almond-scented, pale pink blossoms fading to white smother the bare branches for one to two weeks each spring, the same display celebrated at the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
- A graceful, arching form: its wide, spreading canopy offers light, dappled shade through summer before turning golden-yellow in fall.
- A manageable size with big impact: stays smaller than many shade trees, fitting well as a specimen near a patio, walkway, or lawn.
A Living Memorial That Grows With You
Finding a meaningful way to honor someone you love can feel overwhelming. A Treebute tree offers something different, a living expression of love that grows stronger each year. It gives your hands something to do and your heart something to hold.
The act of planting creates meaning. The growth creates hope. The tree creates a place to remember.

Nurturing Your Memorial Tribute
Even if you're new to planting, the Yoshino Flowering Cherry is low-maintenance and tolerant of both heat and cold, rewarding simple care with one of the most beloved spring blooms.
-
Light: Full sun to partial shade, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for the best flowering.
-
Water: Water regularly to keep the soil moist during the first few years after planting. Once established, this tree is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during dry spells.
-
Space: Plan for a mature size of about 20 to 40 feet tall and wide, giving its graceful, arching canopy plenty of room to spread.
Prune immediately after flowering to remove dead or crossing branches, and avoid heavy pruning, which can reduce next year's bloom. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and protect the roots.
Optional: Plant with Cremation Ashes - The Treebute® Difference
For those wishing to incorporate cremation ashes, your kit includes the option to add our Treebute® organic soil blend. This specially formulated mixture creates a safe, nurturing foundation for your tree - transforming ashes into living growth.
Your tree is meaningful with or without ashes - this is simply another way to honor someone you love.
