Plant love, and watch it grow.

Outdoor Planting Care Guide

This guide provides simple steps for planting and caring for your tribute tree.

💡 Not ready to plant right away? Keep the plant in its nursery pot, well-watered, and out of direct sun or strong wind.

1. Unpack Promptly

Remove any fabric sleeves, tape, or ties.

Water thoroughly and allow your plant to rest for a few days.

2. Select a Site

Choose a location with appropriate sunlight, spacing, and good drainage.

3. Dig a Wide Hole

Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper.

4. Mix with Meaning

If incorporating cremation ashes, blend them first with the Treebute® organic soil blend as instructed, then combine with native soil.

5. Plant with Care

Position the tree with its root flare level with the surrounding soil.

Fill the hole with your blended soil mix and native soil, gently tamping as you go.

6. Water Thoroughly

Water slowly and deeply to settle the soil.

Continue watering deeply once per week during the first full growing season;

Increase to twice weekly during hot or dry weather.

7. Mulch

Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk.

Mulch helps conserve moisture, regulate temperature, and reduce weeds.
