Evergreen Comfort For This Season and the Years After
The Lemon Cypress is a compact, cone shaped evergreen with soft, golden green foliage that gives off a fresh lemon scent when you brush it. This tree arrives in a red holiday pot, ready to give. It loves bright light and cool air. In mild climates it stays outdoors on a porch or patio, and in colder climates it spends winter in the coolest bright room in the house.

Why You Will Love the Lemon Cypress
- A fresh lemon scent: brush the foliage and it releases a clean citrus scent, a small moment of comfort each time you care for it.
- Golden green through winter: this evergreen keeps its bright color when most gardens are bare, a living presence in a quiet season.
- Ready to give: it arrives in a red holiday pot, so it can go straight to a porch or a bright, cool windowsill with nothing to wrap or assemble.
- A gift that outlasts the season: unlike cut flowers or a cut tree, it keeps growing after the holidays, in a larger pot or, in mild climates, in the ground.
- Compact and easy to place: in a container it typically stays 3 to 5 feet tall, and light trimming keeps its neat, cone shaped form.
Caring for Your Tree Through the Holidays and Beyond
- Light: give it your brightest window, ideally with a few hours of direct sun each day. In low light it loses its golden color and thins.
- Water: keep the soil evenly moist. Never let it dry out completely, and never let it sit in standing water. Indoors in winter, check the soil every few days. If the holiday pot has no drainage hole, empty any water that collects after watering.
- Temperature: Cool is better: nights around 55 to 65°F are ideal, and it struggles above 80°F. Keep it away from heat vents, fireplaces, and radiators.
- Humidity: dry indoor heat is its biggest challenge. A humidifier or a tray of pebbles and water nearby helps keep the foliage soft.
- After the holidays: in spring, once frost has passed, move it to a sunny patio. In USDA zones 7 to 10 it can be planted in the ground. In colder zones, repot it into a larger container and bring it back inside to a cool, bright room each winter.
-
That is it: two habits matter most, bright light and soil that never fully dries out. Get those right and the Lemon Cypress settles in well.
Each moment caring for their tree becomes a quiet act of remembrance.
Where it grows: outdoors year round in USDA zones 7 to 10
