Transform Ashes Into Living Growth

Create a Memorial Rooted in Love

For families who want to include cremation ashes in their memorial planting, this specially formulated organic soil blend creates the foundation for a Treebute that thrives.

Why It Matters

Here's something most people don't realize: cremation "ashes" aren't ashes at all. They're pulverized bone, very different from the light grey powder you scoop up from a fireplace. That's why cremation ashes alone are actually harmful to plants. They contain high sodium levels (salt damages roots) and elevated pH that prevents nutrient absorption.

You can't just plant a tree with cremation ashes. This organic soil blend changes that.

How It Works

Treebute® Organic Soil Blend - powered by Let Your Love Grow®, neutralizes the high pH and dilutes the sodium, creating a safe, nurturing foundation for your memorial tree's roots. It transforms remains into something living that grows with your family for years to come.

A Gentle Presence, Every Day

Whether your Treebute is planted outdoors or placed in an indoor planter, this blend helps your memorial thrive. Not scattered and gone. Not buried and locked away. But growing, right where you can see it.

Treebute® organic soil blend is a simple, supportive option for those seeking a meaningful next step, when and if the time feels right.

What if they're not ready to plant right away?

The kit includes simple instructions to care for your tree until planting time. Many customers plant on significant dates: a birthday, an anniversary, or simply when the acute grief lifts a little. The tree waits for them.

What if I'm not ready to plant yet?

That is completely okay. There's no timeline for grief, and there's no rush. The soil blend stores well in a cool, dry place until you're ready. Plant when, and only when, it feels right.

Can I plant a memorial tree with cremation ashes?

Yes. Treebute Kits offer the option to add the Treebute® organic soil blend, specially formulated to safely mix with cremation ashes and offset the naturally high pH and sodium levels, creating a nurturing foundation for tree growth.

Aren't cremation ashes basically the same as fireplace ash?

This is one of the most common misconceptions. Fireplace ash is carbon-based and can actually benefit soil. Cremation ashes are something entirely different. They're 100% bone that has been processed at extremely high heat (over 1,400°F), leaving behind a sterile powder with no carbon, no nutrients, and no beneficial microbes. The name "ashes" is misleading. What remains is calcium phosphite, the mineral composition of bone, not anything like what you'd scoop from a fireplace.

How do I mix the ashes with the soil?

The process is simple and can become a meaningful moment to share with loved ones.
Step 1: Unseal the Treebute Organic Soil Blend bag. Add the cremation ashes directly into the bag. You only need a small, symbolic portion.
Step 2: Reseal the bag and mix well by gently kneading or shaking until the ashes are evenly blended throughout.
Step 3: Use the mixture during planting. For containers and planters, place the blended mixture in your pot and backfill around the tree with quality potting soil. For in-ground plantings, spread the mixture evenly in the planting hole before positioning your tree.

A meaningful touch: Consider writing a note, memory, or message on biodegradable paper and placing it in the soil with the mixture. It's a quiet, personal way to add intention to the planting.

Can I use bone meal instead of the Treebute Organic Soil Blend?

No. People often confuse cremation ashes with bone meal because both involve bone, but they're very different materials. Bone meal still contains moisture, proteins, and beneficial bacteria. That's why it has a strong, earthy smell when you open the bag. Cremation ashes have been fully sterilized by intense heat, which destroys all organic content. There's no living biology left. The Treebute Organic Soil Blend is specifically formulated to reintroduce biological life to the soil while neutralizing the high pH and sodium levels in cremation ashes. Bone meal can't do that.

How long has this soil blend been researched and tested?

The science behind the Treebute Organic Soil Blend comes from over 17 years of research by Let Your Love Grow into the chemistry of cremated remains and soil health. This isn't a guess or a homemade remedy. It's a patented formula developed specifically to transform sterile cremation ashes into a medium that can safely support plant growth.

Can I plant ashes without any special soil treatment?

We strongly advise against it and doing so will void the Warranty. Planting cremation ashes directly with a tree, without proper treatment, can stress or even kill the plant. The high sodium and pH levels create conditions that are hostile to root development. If you want your memorial tree to thrive for years to come, using the Treebute Organic Soil Blend is essential when incorporating ashes.

What makes Treebute different from other memorial tree options?

Treebute is designed to be planted at home, in your own yard, patio, or indoor space. Unlike distant memorial forests where a tree is planted somewhere you may never visit, a Treebute grows right where you can see it. It becomes a gentle, living presence in your daily life. Every kit includes a healthy tree of your choice, clear planting and care instructions, and the option to add scientifically formulated soil for safe ash incorporation. And our team understands that every memorial is deeply personal.
