About

Hey, hey, hey! It’s Fat Albert! The ‘Fat Albert’ or Colorado Blue Spruce is a magnificent evergreen specimen that can be easily identified by its frosty blue-green to silver-blue bristly needles, wide pyramidal stance, and dense foliage. The needles produce a wax that reflects light, creating its signature magical blue hue. A very slow grower that will become quite large over time, the ‘Fat Albert’ is an excellent choice for a front lawn or to fill up a bare corner space, but an especially wonderful choice for a living Christmas Treebute. Extremely cold-hardy, dense, and durable, ‘Fat Albert’ works well in windbreaks, or as a screen and is very low maintenance. The ‘Fat Albert’ Colorado Blue Spruce is native to the central Rocky Mountains from southern Montana and eastern Idaho south to New Mexico, so it thrives in cool and moist elevated conditions. Keep this in mind when finding a location in your yard, ideally with partial shade, to protect it during hot summers.
